Matheran

So, I was in Matheran last week, for a couple of days enroute Pune-Mumbai. Last time I was there was a good 5 years ago. And the good part is, the place hasn’t changed. Not one bit. (well, except for the mobile connectivity I guess. Actually, wait. I didn’t have a mobile phone with me the last time around. So, I wouldn’t know.).

Monsoon is the best time to be in Matheran. Although you miss the toy-train (which is closed in Monsoons) from Neral to Matheran, it still is the best time in my opinion. Avoid Weekends ! Big NO NO. 3% of Mumbai and 12% of Pune are in Matheran on weekends.*
Waterfalls, long winding roads ( best for long walks), loads of nature, friendly monkeys (not considering you and your friends), lots of dogs to give company while you walk around, horses ( for people who are . lazy to walk, . have better reasons not to walk ), very friendly locals ( not the local trains, the people), and moss ( yes moss. Depending on your safe search settings, you might get the green foligae or nude photos of Kate Moss. I assume no responsibility.)
Well, here are some pictures.

Trees, trees, and more trees. But you don’t want to eat them anyway.
