Xenocide, by Orson Scott Card.
This is the third part in the Ender’s Series (after Enders Game and Speaker for the Dead ). Very good sci-fi/fantasy series.
The book is also currently acting as a stand for an external hard disk.

Not many people know about this, but I do have a pet. It’s a rock. Pet rock.
Here is what it looks like (it likes it’s ergonomic/acupressure pedestal (also a cube puzzle) :

some upsides to having a pet rock
- does not pee/shit
- does not need to be fed
- can leave it home when you go to vacations
- excellent listener
- good adviser
- can look exactly how you want it to
- is not racist
- is not lazy
- always available
- very dependent
- can act as a paper weight
- does not get jealous
- does not try to get constant attention
downsides to having a pet rock
- does not fetch (I might have tried)
- not furry/cuddly
Some interesting things you probably *did not* know about my pet rock
- It’s extremely cool
- I found it on a river bed in Ladakh
- If anyone ever abducts/kidnaps it, I will pay money to get it back
- I lost it once, and put up flyers with pictures, and found it later under my desk
- I keep changing it’s expressions (maybe I’ll post some pictures of it’s different looks someday)
- It’s bluish grey in color
- It likes websites
- is totally into gangsta rap
And before you ask, it does not have a name! Who names rocks?
“The unhappiness of the bachelor, whether seeming or actual, is so easily guessed at by the world around him … he walks with his coat buttoned … his hat pulled down over his eyes, a false smile that has become natural to him is supposed to shield his mouth as his glasses do his eyes”.
- Franz Kafka
is what my iGoogle theme tells me.

1. Get directions in India now on maps.google.co.in
eg: Mumbai to Pune, Hyderabad to Delhi.
2. Lok Sabha Elections 2009 tracking
Do check them out. The second one especially, has loads of features including search for your constituency, election manifestos, related news and much more.
I either need a complete restore, or a cleanup_defragmentation_and_reboot of my life. Now.

For those of you who read SMBC, you’ll know I stole the idea from there. But hey, it happened to me !
Funny how I feel addicted to email. And I seem to be checking my Feed reader more than my email.
I always have work email, my personal gmail, and my Google reader open. All the time !
Well, I had at least. Starting today, I’ll be checking my email once when I get to work in the morning. And then at 2 hr intervals.
And reader only at the end of the day. Slightly scary, but much required.
There, that’s what I talk to myself about these days.
You know the feeling, when you’re on a diving board looking down at the pool under you, and you jump towards the edge, and the board bends under your weight, to a point where it’s figured out Newton’s third law and is about to act on it? There’s excitement knowing something’s about to explode, the few milliseconds when you are expecting the push from beneath your feet which will throw you off. The leap into something you’ve been looking forward to?
I’m aiming for up, forward, a few twists and turns, maybe a stunt or two, and a deep dive. Lets see how it goes.
