I'm not sure what their esteemed intentions were.. I'm guessing since you know the cause of the collapse, you would've also heard of something called safety norms.. Wonder why the HUDA engineers didn't think about it.. hmm.. food for thought?

Hi,There is a mistake done by the engineer is that he hasn't taken care of flyover when the rain falls he has to take necessary action. Its completely the overall communication between the authorities of all kinds.pls take necessary steps to save the people frm being this kind of incedents.

Did the media hype it up a little ? Maybe. Thats their job nowadays.
Lives were lost. The govt. better think they made a mistake somewhere.

@Karthik : Thanks for pointing out though. There definitely is a huge difference between, the bridge collapsing and the scaffolding of the flyover collapsing.

One Mr. Karthik says ( on one of my other posts, by mistake )

Hi there, it’s actually not the flyover structure that could not withstand the rain - it was the temporary scaffolding - the news media as usual is causing more damage to people’s confidence than anything else! There was a collapse, yes, but not in the structure, but in the temporary scaffolding used to join blocks of the structure - Only ‘The Hindu’ has behaved responsibly in reporting this news - It makes a big difference - ‘Scaffolding of the flyover collapsed’ versus ‘Flyover collapsed’ - It’s really sad, the way everyone has been misguided by the media which wants to cash in on sensationalizing everything possible! My heart goes for those who have lost their lives in this tragic incident :-( !! And I hope the government acts accordingly and punishes the people who needed to ensure safety during construction!!

This is unbelievably unfortunate.. After the construction goes on for about 2 years, it can't withstand 8cm rainfall?? Hope HUDA officials are atleast brought to trial for this one. So, there's been not much said in the media about this. The update of rediff.com couldn't have been more careless.. The quote from the HUDA officials reads "They said the scaffolding and spans came down as loose soil underneath the metal jacks was washed away." Are they kidding us?
