It’s been a while since I saw the movie Taare Zameen Par, and I’ve meant to write this before.
So, here a few things about the movie that struck me.
- The movie was overhyped, and didn’t live upto ridiculous expectations.
- It was good nonetheless. Can’t complain about the movie, which is a good thing
- People all around me were crying their hearts out, but I couldn’t understand why.
- Oh, there is a part of the movie, which was a copied from a Calvin and Hobbes strip series. Here it is:

I wonder if you need to take creative lisence to use such material in a movie. I’m guesing yes, but I’m more or less confident that Amir Khan didn’t do that.
- The other positive of the movie, was that it addressed a real life problem. And that often strikes a chord with the people. Here is a trend I picked from Google Trends, which shows how this movie has impacted millions of people.

What you are looking at here is a trend graph of people in India searching for the query ‘dyslexic’. There is no argument to the fact that it was the movie which talked about dyslexia, led to people trying to learn more, and understand more of what dyslexia is about. I’d say that’s a really high impact !
On an entirely different note, I wish I blogged more. Time to rectify that.

The movie is good but falls apart when aamir enters ….it seemed that first and sec half were written by two diff individuals………but still the efforst should be applauded…….with all the dhooms and jhooms this was a welcome change in Hindi cinema ….

It produces clicks and pops if played in a computer CDROM. I initially thought the CD was defective and got it replaced and the same clicks and pops and in 4 different computers.
If T series is so conscious about its revenue, it should have the ethical decency to mention on the cover that the CD has copy protection on it and might not play properly in some CDROM drives. But since this is India, I guess you can take the customer for a ride. Of course they don’t fail to mention “Downloads available on Itunes”.
And with Amir Khan’s face sitting big on the CD cover, I can’t believe he was not privy to this underhand job. I can’t help but think the guy is a “pseud” – with his goof ups like I read a few days ago he tried to cover up his buying an agricultural land by saying he comes from a family of farmers to his not accepting Filmfare awards (coz he thinks the awards are manipulated) but anyway does not make any vocal objection to his films being selected in the first place.
As for T series, it is ironical with the kind of history they have how they made it big (initially), they are pioneering copy protection now. Anyway I am not surprised that they don’t find it their responsibility to inform their customers what they are actually selling – no ethics in the begining, none even now.
