To do list manager

I can’t seem to get this right.

I need a to-do list manager. One that can do all of these:

- be available when I’m mobile (offline capability would be a big + )
- Standard interface (with reminders/alerts)
- nice categorization/labeling ability
- Clean and neat
- Free (blame it on the economic downturn)

Other than RTM which is a paid service (for mobile i.e), is there anything else?

Possible ones:
- google tasks
- email myself everything?
- write it on a notebook (like a physical one :) ) # #

What do you use?

I use Things on my mac. There is Things for iPhone as well. However it doesn’t meet your last criteria. :)

If Google releases a Google Tasks API, then there could be a bunch of apps for this purpose. But that we have to wait :)

I use this thing called… ‘My MIND’!
P.S: Standard interface also comes with pretty themes :P

@Krishna: Yeah, I seem to like Google tasks more as I use it. Here’s hoping they open up an API for it.

@Sailusha: How’s that working out for you? :)

My phone has a feature called ‘notes’, as do most phones I am guessing, and the great part is I can ’stick’ it on the opening screen of my phone and check off what I have done. The downside is I can only put in 5 things at a time and god knows I inevitably have more than that to get done so I also add in reminders.

    I love reminders!

Have been using it for some 2 weeks now and swear by it.. Got reminders/alarms, color code by priority, also you can calculate time spent on completing task blah blah… but oh wait.. tsk tsk, it’s not apple compatible I guess..

suggest gmail.com/tasks, it was decent but not pimped enough..

G calendar? the catch being you can’t edit your schedule when mobile.
A combination of more than one application for now, I guess.

Google Calendar is the mother of all to-dos for me. It sends specific SMSes, has a mobile site and can be synced to the phone with varying ease depending on ur phone. Can be kept public, shared or used privately.

RTM for long term lists, Google Tasks for daily to-dos (work & personal on their respective inboxes)& of course the good old phone reminder for some dates & events i dont wanna miss.

The coolest reminders are the ones i get from GCal via SMS.

43things is something i tried and it would send email reminders and as such had a social aspect to the to-do tasks. However its stuck in a Web 1.5 phase and i discontinued using it.
